Note from a hungry trail user

Best damn wayfinding in Illinois

Trail users discovering nearby businesses—Christopher K. writes:

“Another Cal-Sag Trail visit, another upside discovered. Joe’s Italian Villa relocated and opened in City of Palos Heights, IL at 12207 S. Harlem Ave. recently, just south of Richards Bicycles Dba RBikes. Our family was very happy to experience their pizza again and so close to the trail.

Spring is knocking…”

That’s what happens when a trail’s wayfinding signs do what they should: Tell people where they are, show them how far away the next thing is, and alert them to useful stuff nearby.

The Cal-Sag Trail wayfinding signs are the best damn trail wayfinding signs in Illinois. They helped Christopher rediscover his family’s favorite pizza place, as well as the bike shop right next door. Name any other trail in Illinois that tells you where the PIZZA is.

Friends of the Cal-Sag Trail, through many many generous donors and members, including PeopleforBikes, ArcelorMittal US, and Richard’s Bicycles, covered the local costs for the signs’ design and manufacture. They are AWESOME signs that return value to our towns and park districts on a Triple Bottom Line: local economic activity, environmental stewardship, & quality of life at $0 cost to our towns and park districts.

THAT’S what happens when you join or donate to the Friends of the Cal-Sag Trail. You become a trail builder, a sign maker, a person making a difference along our corridor. Join today!
