National Trails Day—Cal-Sag Trail Bike Show & History Tour

  • Chatham Street Bridge Blue Island USA (map)

Ride your vintage, custom, or just your favorite bike over to the south end of Blue Island’s Chatham Street Bridge to Celebrate National Trails Day with Friends of the Cal-Sag Trail! Hang out with fellow bike collectors and restorers and soak up all the bike feels, and learn about the history of the corridor and the efforts to complete the trail all the way to Burnham.

Enjoy a short bike tour (beginning 11am) with historian and writer Samuel Love, our guide through the deep history of the Cal-Sag corridor from geological formation and the first human settlements to the deadly violence that erupted between the Ottawa and Illini near Fay’s Point in 1769.

The event is FREE, and first 20 kids get a FREE bike helmet. Cafés, restaurants and parking on Old Western are just two blocks away. Swing by to enjoy a morning trail-side with us, and then ride over to the Lyric Theater for the Blue Island Gets Warped music fest—now THAT’S a Saturday!

See you June 7!
